We shared available data on the current situation in Latin America and the Caribbean through presentations by national and international experts. This data collects, consolidates and systematizes, under the same methodology, the experience of each of the countries in relation to the design, adjustment and implementation processes of their health benefit plans.

As part of this effort, in 2013 we published the book Planes de beneficios en salud, una comparación regional. In November 2015, this workshop presented the relevance of evidence- based decision making within the framework of a process of priority setting in health spending from a systemic perspective. Representatives of different ministries and of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund discussed and exchanged lessons learned in the institutionalization of the Health Technology Assessment in the region and other parts of the world.
